Cheers to Life's Unexpected Turns

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. Helen Keller

Innocence

I held my god-daughter while she slept.

Unchecked tears rolled down my face.

Her dark lashes lay against her cheeks.
Her perfect lips still for the moment.

Her face yet unlined with the years of laughter, sorrow, trials and tears.

Oh for the innocence of a babe.
